The Leadership Forum engages 90-120 youth from various schools and universities. It is delivered by keynote speakers and skilled facilitators. The forum builds capacity and creates a space for generational knowledge transfer. After the Forum, 15-25 participants engage in a 3 day intensive program.
During the Forum, various leadership topics are discussed, and participants have an opportunity to engage with inspiring community leaders, and learn from their leadership journeys. Participants also have an opportunity to exchange dialogue with key-note speakers and discuss important issues relating to leadership as well as personal, community, national and continental development.
The 3 day intensive program is delivered to 15-25 selected young leaders. It builds critical and creative thinking, problem solving and innovation, influencing skills, communication, values, ethics, networking, facilitation, reflective practice, presentation skills and cross cultural leadership competency. Furthermore it explores the tensions inherent in maintaining robust African traditions and culture, while boosting development. The intention is to build optimism and empower young leaders to make a difference.
During the 3 day day intensive Leadership Program, participants map out, plan and execute a community project in project teams. Projects are centred around the UN Millennium Goals priority areas, and are designed to engage in activities that are aimed toward the realisation of these goals. Furthermore, community based change projects will contribute to effective change and innovation within critical areas such as food, health, education and technology. Through this, participants action the knowledge, coaching and mentoring gained from the program.
